For turkeys open, for deer use the mesh.
At least thats the way I understand it.
I have heard they have a problem with the whole "black hole" thing

hahahhahaha....yeah, only problem i was having is that they wouldn't stay around or come in because they couldn't figure out what the heck the holes were...they stayed at least 40-50 yards out then walked away...and my blind was brushed in quiet well...

Interesting, I wouldnt think it would bother them. Mabey you have a defferent type of breed at your place ...........I mean you see on hunting shows how they use them ALL THE TIME and have no issues with that! I dont know man kinduv unusual!!!

Re: Popup Blinds and the windows...
the first pic was when i first got the blind setup...same day, used it....
the second pic, it was in that location for almost a week....that was the blind i shot my buck from (rifle though in box blind across the field)....but when he came out, he came out along the brush next to my bow blind...he looked at it and was about to take off, that's when i shot him...

Re: Popup Blinds and the windows...
In Texas, is it common to set-up a blind for say 2 weeks before hunting it?
I know here in Ohio, you would need at least 3 weeks.

Re: Popup Blinds and the windows...
I always use the mesh for deer (except when gun hunting).
For turkeys I will as well, since they'll be close and I don't want them to see me draw back..... assuming I can get one of the dang things close enough for a shot.

usually like my buddy, he set up his double bull and hunted it same day, had 15 deer in front of him....i noticed the mesh is waaay different from my blind and his and that's got me thinking something is up....in that second pic, the mesh is up, but it's so fine that it still looks black....

Also something toconsider is to stand out of your blind and see if there is any reflective objects that might be showing!??!?!? Also, dont forget TURKEYS ARE NOT COLORED BLIND so what you see is what they see to!!!!

Re: Popup Blinds and the windows...
I have had deer within feet of my DB the day I set it up. But not big bucks. However, I have read that deer do hate the black holes and wondered then about the material that closes small rectangular openings being black and thought about covering them with mesh.
I still wear a face mask while turkey hunting to keep the shadows to a minimum.

I thought that was to keep from scaring other hunters away?
