I don't have a chart here but you will need poundage, DL and then you could look it up.

He listed it in his first post. 27" 65 # and heavier arrows pack more kinetic energy.

That's relative to the speed you get. Heavier arrow means less speed. Lighter arrow means more speed. Play around with this calculator, and you'll see "little" difference in KE.

The other side of the argument is how much momentum is carried by the arrow.

Basically that you'll have more knock-down power at longer range with a heavier arrow than you will a lighter one (and for the record, I'm not arguing the point pro or con, just saying why some guys like a heavier arrow.... all about momentum, I'm told...)

umm, some say its better to have a good cutting BH, less friction that hteh arrow will have to go through.

That's a big 10-4 on that good buddy. A heavier arrow will give you better penetration and less negative affects from the wind. Light arrows get blown off target easier.

Nubby sure is heavy handed with his opinion isn't he boys? Razz

I know the science behind the heavier arrows ad I know how much bashing went on when Richard started selling his own version of the HCA arrows when he bought them out, but.....................................

I was on the heavy arrow kick for awhile. I was shooting an arrow averaging 460gr for a couple years and had GREAT results. When I moved to HCA staff from Newberry when Richard bought HCA I started shooting the light HCA arrows based on info I got from talking with Richard. All I will say is that I never had a problem blowing clean through anything (even elk) with the lighter arrows moving at close to 400fps. And wind has little time to effect the flight of the arrow when it is moving that fast. Wink

Juan, the whole point in shooting a lighter arrow is getting the higher speeds. I never shot the lighter arrows under about 340fps.

Think about it this way. Shoot a pellet out of a little Red Rider BB gun at a squirrel. The BB is moving VERY slow and you 'll most likely not get a passthrough if it even breaks the skin. Now shoot the same style pellet but one which weighs alot less out of the same gun. It will be traveling much faster and will penetrate alot more.
