So its almost turkey time....
and I was wondering what loads you gunners are shooting. I have a Remington 11-87 semi-auto, with some sort of turkey choke on it.
I hear lots of good things about 5's and 6's and everything else.
I was thinking squirrel shot as well. will that work?

I typically use 4 or 6 shot but have used as small as 8 to kill turkey.

Ok but I want something that takes out the whole herd in one shot.

Re: So its almost turkey time....
I'm gonna pass on the spring season and get a tag this fall to shoot one in front of my father-in-law's birdfeeder......
the kids can sit in the blind w/ me, or if they get bored they can go inside and play till the birds come to the feeder and then watch and wait for one to get shot......
damn I wish I could have posted that on At for the ethics cops.......

My mother in law's farm?
I've seen birds while deer hunting, so I know they are there. It's 84 acres; about 14 or so acres of woods, butted up to the neighbor's 10 acres or so of woods, surrounded by corn and soybeans.
I just hope I can do enough pathetic calling to get one within eyesight, let alone 20-30 yards! I just want my son to a see bird in the wild.

Re: So its almost turkey time....
April 15th is the opener here. I have a customer that has about a hundred of the things running wild at his place. He's been trying to get me up there for a while now so I'll be there on the opener and see if I can call one of the darn things in to bow range, otherwise it's going down with the shotgun.

I ran my shotgun by the ethics police and it turns out it passed the ethicalness test.
So because I suck I'm gonna try to get a gobbler with the gun first and then try the last one with a bow, and the next three will be with explosives of course.
