Needs an entire new engine. Found one in Wisconsin for $1070 including shipping... has 21K miles on it and the best warranty I could find, so as soon as my GBBC arrives, I'll be ordering it

Then of course $600-800 to install, plus the cost of possibly a new radiator, which would be another $250....

Sooo, every little bit helps... anyone want to buy Darla's Trophy Ridge? I put it on At and of course some dipshit offered me like $50, which I declined, so he started posting crap in the thread about how they were selling on eBay for $40... numbnuts..... more like $90 on eBay and that's for the .029 pin version without toolless adjustment, not the one I have... I reported him and he got an infraction... sucker!

Well I take that back, I can change a flat tire, battery, change the oil & filter. Oh yeah I also changed the wiper blades once.

So can I swap a motor?

Well, maybe, depends on how much Busch Light you have.

Besides Juan does all the mechanic work for me now. Razz

I was wondering why '08 was posting when he should of been hunting...Mi pansies get to kill after 'noon'. In Va, noon is cut off time. I like the first morning hunt but if you dont score in da first couple hours seems best to back out and not pressure the birds. Most gobblers are henned up the first half the day...right around noon is the next best time to get back after them imo. If you can get one to gobble later in the day, he's usually hot/dead. Wink

Well, first evening report... I didn't see single bird.

Ended up having a pheasant cackling at my calling every so often, saw two rabbits, a deer and bunch of tweety birds. I think I need to look into what kind of calling I should be doing, how often, etc....

Oh well, can't get back out until Saturday morning, so hopefully I'll actually see a bird...

First off, If I were you I would try and locate one first using a crow call or owl call. A turkey is a VERY smart bird and evening times can be difficult to harvest one due to the fact that they already have a hen! Thats why you will be more sucessful in the morning time. But my sugestion to you would to buy an owl hoot and use it right at daybreak/dark and get a shock gobble out of the thunder chicken THEN you can set up accordingly to their gobble! I have been turkey hunting all my life and this is the best approch i can give you. ALSO DONT OVERCALL!!!!!! If a turkey gobbles at you HE KNOWS EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE AT!!!! tHEn YOU CAN CALL ABOUT EVERY 10MIN AFTER THE initial gobble. However, if the turkey cuts you off STOP CALLING and GET READY!! He is comin on in! Good luck man, and let me know if you need any more advice!!

What if one never gobbles (as was the case last night)?

How often do you call?

If one doesnt answer your call the reason for this is due to having a hen already or they just arent interested in the sound your call is making....I have a whole arceno of calls some raspy, some REALLY raspy, some that are high pitch and some that are low pitch. ITs all about finding the right call he likes most. I have had times when i was using one call then switched to another one and BAMMM gobble! But my best advice to you isnt to sit in one spot for the whole hunt! Walk around and try to locate one in the evening time with a crow call. And be patient! IDK how much you were calling, but calling to much can make a turkey avoid you! If it were me, I would call about every 20min. with series of yelps, and clucks. Yelp mabey 3-5 times then cluck a few times after. And agian a turkey might want to yelps fast or slow that is something you have to experimant with to find out what they want!

YEp, BUT REALLY if you have a owl hoot USE IT before daylight! I get a turkey to shock gobbler EVERYTIME i use one in my neck of the woods. It will give you an idea of where they are!!!!!! Best turkey locator in my opinion!!!!!!!

I'm gonna hit WalMart on my way home for some stuff, so I'll see if they have a hoot call... they have all their calls on clearance since the season is over for most guys around here.

Now there are a variety of owl hoots out there and in my opinion some or WORTHLESS!!!! Primos make a hoot that is, I believe green/clear, IT SUCKS. It has a hole to put your finger in then a snout you blow in from the front, WORTHLESS, you would do better using you mouth, then using it. NOw with that said, the best hoots out there are the ones with a reed in them like a buck grunt. They are REALLY LOUD and produce gobbles pretty darn good! Mine is made out of wood and i blow on it as LOUD as i can making a owl hoot! And when you hoot put expression in it and hoot 3 times imitating a owl. Mine sounds like an owl; however it is HIGH PITCH and really gets them fired up! I got mine at academy, and i dont think wally world carrys the diaphram owl hoots. Somebody might beg to differ on this issue but IMO the clear plastic owl hoots are a waste of money!
